Quartet San Francisco at Regent Theatre

Cross-genre string ensemble performs jazz, tango, Beatles and more

“[Quartet San Francisco] played with breezy wit, fine technical finish and a genuine feeling for musical idiom.” – Washington Post

Multiple Grammy-nominated Quartet San Francisco returns to the historic Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA on Monday, August 8. As crossover specialists Quartet San Francisco excels many styles—from jazz to tango, pop to funk, blues to bluegrass, gypsy swing to big band and beyond.

QSF’s performance at the Regent celebrates the release of their brand-new recording, Five by Four, which features Beatles tunes, swing jazz and tango. “We are thrilled to be back at the Regent Theatre,” says QSF’s first violinist and founder Jeremy Cohen. “The sense of history, the great acoustics and intimate space is perfect for Quartet San Francisco,” Cohen continues.

Quartet San Francisco was formed in 2001 by violinist Jeremy Cohen to bring a uniquely refreshing brand of music to the string quartet genre. Since then, the group has been recognized with Grammy nominations for each of their full length CDs: Latigo, Whirled Chamber Music and QSF Plays Brubeck. Their most recent recording, Five by Four, is available on iTunes, Amazon and other digital distributors.

Quartet San Francisco will perform on Monday, August 8, 2011, 7:30 pm at the historic Regent Theatre, “Arlington’s Show Place of Entertainment.” Doors open at 7:00 pm. Reserved seats are $12 in advance; $18 day of show ($10 for students). Regent Theatre is located at 7 Medford St. in Arlington Center (off of Mass Ave), just minutes from Cambridge and Boston. The Regent Theatre is MBTA and handicap accessible with free parking across the street. For tickets and info call 781-646-4849 or visit www.regenttheatre.com.

SUMMER YOUTH ART PROGRAMS BEGIN!
Come take an open studio art class or a workshop that combine the visual and performing arts!

The sky’s the limit on what magic can be spun out of the imaginations of young people! In our unique Summer PlayCamp, students will engage in the collaborative art of crafting then performing a short play, including the design and creation of their own sets, costumes and props! Each session will culminate in a staged performance for family and friends on Thursday evening at Stage Fort Park. Playwriting and practice will take place in the TheatreWorks lab at The Cape Ann (or ‘The Annie’ to her friends), and the art classes will take place at Art Haven.
