Just Shipped the Spring Issue

February 25, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Well, the hard work is over and the waiting has commenced. We just put the finishing touches on the April/May issue and while I can’t give away too much info, I can tell you this: it’s our finest work yet. I hope you’ll agree!

Our cover story, alone, should stir a debate among many North Shore residents and beach-goers. But that’s all I can say. Stop talking, now.

Which brings up a good question. What do you think about the new look of our magazine? The last issue (“Comfort Food” was the cover story) debuted a complete redesign of the book, front to back. Some of you emailed in with praise while others weren’t so sure about a few of the articles we published (namely, the lingerie photo shoot).

What’s your take? Do you like what we’ve done? Should we go back to the way it used to be? Let me know right here!

I’ll be posting regular blogs here with some behind-the-scenes takes on putting Northshore together as well as a few tidbits about my travels around the region. Got a favorite store or restaurant that you think I should check out?  How about a new hiking or biking trail? Whatever it is, feel free to post it here and I’ll do my best to get back to you.

As always, thanks for reading.

I love the new look! And the lingerie photo shoot – wow – It’s so cool to see such a couture looking article and know it’s all local. Makes me feel like a part of this really hip community.

Thanks, Heather! When we first started putting that piece together, I spoke with local lingerie designer Jacalyn Bennett and she felt the same way. In fact. I think her words were, “Finally, we’ll be able to show that Massachusetts can be sexy.”

Glad you like the new look of the book.

I’ve just read through “correspondence” in April/May 2009.
I agree with your reader and think your new, more upscale makeover is “ridiculous”. It’s a bit late to be jumping into the fray of excess during these dire economic times. Did you miss the 80′s,90′s and early 21st century? I believe that this is a tired affectation and not relevant to most of your
readers trying to make ends meet, feed their families and pay their mortgages. I am NOT embracing gloom and doom but find this in-your-face materialism to be offensive old “news”.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, I thought your “editor responds” comment was smug and condescending. The readers are your customers, without them you are merely glossy paper and print.

ALSO, Is Maria Lekkakos really an expert on the town of Wenham? I believe M Lekkakos’ Salon was the site of Winfrey’s Fudge not Hebert’s candies. Check their historoy at: http://www.hebertcandies.com/since_1917.htm
