Captains Courageous Festival Coming To Gloucester

Captains Courageous Festival- March 6th

seARTS is organizing another fantastic cultural event with the Captains Courageous Festival.  There will be exhibitions, readings and events at many of Gloucester’s cultural centers including The Cape Ann Museum, Sawyer Free Library, Cape Ann Art Haven,Cape Ann Community Cinema and The Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center.

All except the movie screening at the end of the night are completely free.  I can’t think of another single event which would lead you around the city to learn so much about Gloucester’s Schooner history in the span of a day.

There are activities for children, including mapping, work with rope and learning about different tools used on schooners with actual tools from schooner times.  This is a hands on literary and cultural experience not to be missed.  The best part is that you you can come and go and participate in as much or little as you would like.

Check out this video with organizer Ann Robinson for more details-

Let the video load by pausing and letting the red line load before resuming play.

You may want to make arrangements to spend the night in Gloucester and dine downtown as well.  For Gloucester accommodation info you can contact The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce here

Welcome To The World of Competitive Eating- North Shore Style!

Hello, my name is Joey Ciaramitaro, the creator of GoodMorningGloucester.org  The head cheese around this joint- editor extraordinaire Jack Morris has invited me to guest post so I thought I’d use this opportunity to pimp the next greatest event to hit the North Shore since the Last Good Morning Gloucester/Farm Bar and Grille Man vs Food Hot Wing Challenge which North Shore Mag correspondent Lauren Carelli covered so well in this post.

We are going to have one hell of a time at The Farm Bar and Grille Thursday night for the next leg of the Good Morning Gloucester man vs food challenge.   This is the first time we have held our man vs food challenge at the same venue for back to back events but the set-up and hospitality lent by the owners of The Farm Bar and Grille dictated that we just had to return for another go.

The sound system, the layout of the room and the crowd were over the top for our last event and this Thursday Feb 11th’s event promises more of the same excitement.

Come on by for the Good Morning Gloucester/Farm Bar and Grille Corndog Challenge this Thursday night and be amazed at the sheer will and fortitude these brave souls display while consuming copious amounts of meat on a stick covered with corn batter and fried up to a greasy hot mess.
