Keeping the Ship Moving: Corrine Johnson Scholarship Fundraiser

The Corrine Johnson Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit organization that provides scholorships to local college-bound students who have suffered the loss of a parent, guardian or sibling.

Jimmy Johnson, a senior at Andover High School, lost his mother, Corinne Johnson last year.  The scholarship fund was formed by a friend of Corinne’s, Julie Gadziala, because she was so touched by not only Jimmy’s suffering, but several other kids who she spoke to who shared how hard it as for them.  When she began her research it was apparent that short of the American Cancer Society (if your parent died) and the Military (if your parent died) there were no scholarships that addressed children who had lost a family member.

A 18 karat white gold 1.5 Karat Diamond cluster ring with be raffled off.

Last year the scholarship fund gave out nine scholarships.

The schedule for the event is as follows:

6:00 PM Hors D’oeuvres and Cash Bar
7:00 PM Dinner Buffet and Live Auction featuring Coach Fazio & Coach “Pug”
9:30 PM Fashion show and Dancing featuring DJ - Ted Teichert

Description: The Ipswich Bay Yacht Club and the Association of Great Neck will combine forces for the fourth year on Sunday, September 20th from 1 PM-4 PM to present an art show and sale to benefit the organizations’ scholarship funds.

More than 40 north shore artists and artisans will participate in the show at the beautiful Ipswich Bay Yacht Club. There will be a cash bar.

Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Title: Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
Description: The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce is soliciting applications for its general scholarships given to area high school seniors who will further their education to a post secondary level.

Application packages are available through the Guidance Offices at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, Bishop Fenwick, St. John’s Prep, Peabody Alternative High School and the Peabody Communitu School, as well as directly from the Peabody Chamber of Commerce website at www. peabodychamber.com.

Applicants must meet one of three categories to be eligible for an award:

Peabody resident, be employed by a Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce member, or the son or daughter of anyone employed by a Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce member.

The application process includes academic history, a short essay, documentation of community service followed by an interview.
