Description: The Robert Lehman Art Center at Brooks School is pleased to announce its latest exhibit, “Manuel Alvarez Bravo.” The collection of black and white photographs will be on display from April 3rd, 2009 through June 14th, 2009, in conjunction with educational programming for students from the 7th through 12th grade.
The work of Manuel Alvarez Bravo, 1902-2002, is both timeless and of the moment. Photographs taken from the 1920s through the 1960s present the archeology, spirit and aesthetic of his native Mexico. He captured the everyday rituals of the people, as well as the country’s urban and rural landscape. His understated work is full of poetry and irony.
The gallery is free and open to the public (and also handicapped accessible).
There will be an opening reception April 3rd, 2009 from 6:30pm-8pm at the gallery.
Hours: TUES-FRI 10am-5pm, SAT 9am-12pm.
