Noche de los tapas will feature a flight of Spanish wines accompanied by a variety of Chef Lynne Aronson?s flavorful Spanish tapas. Enjoy empanadas and camerone tortallitas. Taste wines including El Coto, Rioja and Burgans Albarino, Rias Baixas. Bring friends and create your own tapeo – or moving party – on your own tapas and wine-tasting stroll. Small Bites. Bold Flavors.
The history of tapas dates back to Spanish King Alfonso the 10th who is said to have issued a decree that
all tabernas must serve a bit of food or tapa with each glass of wine. Tapa is derived from the verb tapar –
to cover. Customarily eaten standing up, tapas originated as savory treats such as a jamon or cheese
placed over the top of every glass, protecting it from flies and dust. Today, tapas comprises everything
from vegetable dishes, to seafood to canapes – from the very simple to more complex. And don?t fret –
Tapas Night at Shubie?s will be fly and dust-free so you won?t be required to balance your tapas on your
wine glass. Great Options for Every Occasion.
“We are excited to be bringing a bit of Spanish flair to the North Shore on May 9th,” said Carol Shube, coowner of Shubie?s. “This is just the first in a series of events we?ll be hosting to highlight all of the amazing prepared foods created by Chef Lynne Aronson who I truly feel is a culinary gift to our area.” Added George Shube, Shubie?s co-owner, “We have the perfect selection of wine varieties to accompany all food options here at Shubie?s as well as the food you prepare yourself. We?re happy to suggest the perfect wine for any meal or occasion.”
Tapas Night is the first in a series of Shubie?s palate-pleasing events planned for spring and summer. The cost is $18 per person. What?s next? Stay tuned. Hint: we?ll be heading east from Spain.
