Artist Audrey Bechler will be honored for her part as an early founder of the current NAA on Water Street in Newburyport, MA. Her over 40 years participation as a champion of NAA and as an exhibitor of her fine art in its galleries has greatly contributed to the NAA success as a Newburyport landmark.
During the early 1970s, she and a small group of members purchased the 1795 brick building on 65 Water Street, a former warehouse from the city’s early shipping days. She championed for the building’s restoration, and served as its President for many terms to help develop the NAA into the community asset it is today.
She also taught classes in plain air water color painting at NAA for many years, and was a vibrant part of the Newburyport arts community along with husband and jazz musician, Charlie Bechler.
Audrey moved from New England this spring to Eugene, OR to be closer to her youngest son. Audrey will be back on the east coast for her opening at the NAA, and is looking forward to seeing all of her many friends.? She will be at the gallery everyday to welcome visitors from June 28 – July 3.
PORTMEDIA Newburyport’s Channels 8 & 9 will be broadcasting daily June – July Audrey’s Documentary: AUDREY BECHLER REFLECTIONS.
