Greg Boggis brings another night of live stand-up comedy to The Luna Theater (250 Jackson Street Mill No. 5) on Monday, June 20 at 7:35PM with headliner and Lawrence resident, Jody Sloane and featured act Jere Pilapil.
Jody Sloane cut her entertainment teeth doing her sit-down shtick as a cheeky “conducktor” named Penny Wise on the The Boston Duck Tours. Her experience of performing these duck tours over 4,000 times was the perfect tee-up to becoming a stand up comedian.
Jody is now a regular at such esteemed comedy venues as Headliners Comedy Clubs throughout New England, Gotham Comedy Club in New York, Comix Comedy Club at Foxwoods, Nick’s Comedy Stop, and every roadhouse, Elk’s Club, and speak easy from Portland to New York. Anywhere people need to laugh, Jody is there.
Since making the transition from tour guide to stand up comedian Jody has rocketed to the top of the roster for booking agents and comedy clubs throughout the northeast. Jody has appeared at the Boston Comedy Festival three times, she also appeared in Asheville North Carolina at the Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival.
She has been heard on Big Sauce Radio, on WROR’s The Loren and Wally Show and on WBZ’s Women’s Watch, she also performed stand up on the internationally watched Steve Katsos Show, Chronicle News Magazine, and WCVB Channel 5 News.
Jody says that it is important to “laugh it off” because: “My job as a comic is to expose the soft white underbelly of mankind. When you embrace life’s tribulations you are transformed. You can laugh out loud at yourself and at the world.”
Also on the show is Jere Pilapil who is a regular at the renowned Comedy Studio in Cambridge Mass., Dick Doherty Comedy Clubs and he was a contestant at Improv Boston’s Peoples Battle.
Jere says about himself: “Jere Pilapil has been performing standup comedy for years. Drawing from life stories and a mischievous perspective, Jere connects with audiences through an absurd and hilarious madness that his suits and ties cannot contain.”
