The 10th Annual North Shore Walk for Parkinson’s Disease, sponsored by Acorda Therapeutics, Inc., will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016, to benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). The 3-mile walk starts at The First Church Swampscott, 40 Monument Avenue.
Registration is $25 and begins at 1 pm; the walk begins at 1:30 pm. Free T-shirts designed by INDUSTRY11 (industry11.com) for the first 100 walkers. Event will feature live music by The Few Abide, face painting and children’s activities, and light refreshments.
This year’s walk is sponsored by Acorda, which has offices in Chelsea, Mass., and Ardsley, NY. Founded in 1995, Acorda is a biotechnology company focused on developing therapies that restore function and improve the lives of people with neurological disorders.
The walk aims to raise $30,000 or more to enable MJFF to continue aggressively funding research to find better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
?The North Shore Walk for Parkinson’s Disease was started by the Wistran family of Swampscott in honor of Dr. Daniel Wistran, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease since 1997.
All donations support The Michael J. Fox Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through an aggressively funded research agenda. Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease—a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder.
