Design Market 2016 returns to the Boston Design Center on October 5-6 for two days full of design immersion. As the Design Center celebrates its 30th anniversary, this year’s event will feature keynote presentations from Chad Stark, Senior Vice President at Stark Carpet and president of the Decorative Furnishings Association, and renowned interior designer Hutton Wilkinson. The Center is also excited to be partnering with DIFFA, Design Market’s Benefitting Sponsor and Mercedes Benz of Boston, the Presenting Sponsor. As a celebration of the showrooms and community of the Boston Design Center, Design Market will explore design trends and provide opportunities for professionals and design enthusiasts to engage with each other.
The Boston Design Center’s annual Design Market has evolved alongside the changing nature of design and DIY culture. For the Center’s 30th anniversary, the Market will once again bring more than 2,500 designers, architects, luxury consumers, decorators and students to celebrate the best in interior design and furnishings. The Market will include a VIP party to kick off events, featuring leaders in the Design world. Additional activities will including pop-up vendors, panel discussions, special guests, product launches, demonstrations, workshops and more. One interactive event, named Love it or Lose it, will feature design experts examining products and trends and deciding whether they “love it” or want to “lose it.”
“The past 10 years have seen a shift in the way people engage with home furnishings and designers so with this year’s Design Market, we hope to bring professionals and consumers into the same space to explore new trends, technologies, and what the Boston Design Market has to offer,” said Michael Phillips, Jamestown.
The Boston Design Center has been a staple in the New England design market for decades, and its evolution as an all-inclusive design resource has quickly made it an industry leader in a rapidly changing industry. Transitioning from the design-trade-only model, the center is now open to the public, allowing anyone to walk the 350,000-square-foot space and browse more than 1,200 luxury product lines.
“As technology evolves, there’s a new generation of consumers looking for easily accessible design inspiration, and the Boston Design Center is meeting that demand through opening its doors to the public and hosting events like Design Market,” said Chad Stark, senior vice president of STARK. “It’s been a pleasure working with the team behind Design Market 2016 as we celebrate the Center’s 30th anniversary and encourage everyone from professional designers to enthusiastic consumers to browse showrooms and be inspired by design.”
Since Jamestown, L.P. took over management of the Boston Design Center in 2014, it has remodeled aspects of the facility, opened doors to the public and created the Designer on Call program, bringing in professional designers on a rotating basis to help consumers create their vision and make purchases from showrooms. Scavolini Kitchen & Bath, Kravet Fabrics, Inc., and Cowton & Tout have opened showrooms at the Boston Design Center under Jamestown along with other renewals and expansions.
