Portsmouth Historical Society has announced its Walking Tours for 2017 which include four different offerings: a 75-minute Daily Tour at 10:30am; an extended 90-minute Portsmouth History & Homes Tour Tuesdays at 11am; Historic Preservation Tours with local historian Dr. Richard M. Candee, author of Building Portsmouth select Saturdays at 10:30am; and new this season, Portsmouth Women, the fourth Wednesday of the month at 4:30pm.

According to Erika Beer, Tour Manager for Portsmouth Historical Society, “Our walking tours last year were so popular! We’ve made some modifications to better serve our residents and visitors. For example, our Daily Tours used to run from Memorial Day – Columbus Day but because of demand, they will now start the first week of May and run through the month of October. And, we used to start each day at 10am but have moved to 10:30am to accommodate schedules. Finally, we have two new offerings this year: Portsmouth Women, and a specific addition to Richard Candee’s Tours – entitled Industrial Portsmouth. It’s going to be another banner year for our tours! If you’re visiting Portsmouth for a meal, an afternoon or a weekend consider taking one of our walking tours!”
