Newburyport Art Association artist and Board of Directors member Pat Forbes has been selected as one of 30 artists from across the country to be included in Crate & Barrel’s new business venture, Shop Original Art. Forbes was approached in early 2017 through her online representative UGallery who were contracted to identify artists across the country who might be showcased by the internationally renowned home furnishings company. Forbes spent eight weeks working to create a dozen new works to be included. Today Crate & Barrel launched its marketing program for the new venture. All artists are profiled online at crateandbarrel.com/artist-originals.

As Forbes’ profile states: “Pat Forbes is an abstract painter whose interest in pattern and design is heavily influenced by her 20 years as a collector and dealer of Middle Eastern textiles. Forbes lives and works along the oceanfront on Plum Island in Newbury, Massachusetts. ‘I can see the ocean from my garret art studio,’ explains the artist. ‘It is an ever-changing inspiration for my work.’ From mountains to marshes, she presents her surroundings with muted colors and pensive symmetrical compositions.”
Pat Forbes has been an Artist Member at the NAA for several years and joined the NAA Board of Directors two years ago. She serves on the NAA Marketing Committee and on the NAA Project Management Team charged with proposing new space for expanded education and other NAA programming. Forbes has exhibited in many open and juried exhibitions at the Newburyport Art Association; she and her husband Pat Keating live on Plum Island in Massachusetts and in Naples, Florida.
