This year, an expected 400 participants will run, walk and celebrate at MarketStreet Lynnfield for the Third Annual Best Buddies Friendship 5k and Walk to support Best Buddies Massachusetts; a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Best Buddies Friendship 5k and Walk will take place on October 1, 2017 at 9:00am. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. bestbuddiesfriendshipwalk.org/lynnfield
In its third year, the event will welcome participants and guests to MarketStreet Lynnfield for a 5K Road Race through historic Lynnfield, or a 1 mile walk around the North Shore’s premiere shopping, dining and entertainment destination. Following the run and walk, the party continues with a celebration on the MarketStreet Green, featuring a DJ, live entertainment, games and giveaways. This event is family and dog-friendly, and a fun opportunity to support the full inclusion of people of all abilities.
Leading up to the event, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse will be donating 20 percent of all proceeds from the sale of their Buffalo Spring Rolls in honor of Michael Jaxtimer Barry, one of four Best Buddies participants employed by Davio’s. Event registrants will also enjoy discounted shopping and dining throughout the day with their participation in the 5k or walk. Following the post-race celebration, Wahlburger’s Lynnfield will be opening early at 10:30am and donating 20 percent of proceeds to Best Buddies until 8 p.m.
