The Cabot has announced that Chin Friction, a favorite local rock band, will be performing a benefit concert for the Pete Frates #3 Fund for ALS on Thursday, February 8. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the “Raise a Glass” event will help defray staggering medical care costs for Pete Frates and his family. The concert, generously funded and sponsored by Sterling Insurance Agency, Inc., will take place center stage at The Cabot, 286 Cabot Street in Beverly. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
VIP tickets are $50 and (sold out!) include a private meet and greet at The Cabot’s street side bar with members of the Frates family and the Chin Friction band. Includes free appetizers until 8:00 pm (pre-concert) and a Raise a Glass T-shirt.
General admission tickets are only $20. Come hear Chin Friction’s newest song, “Raise a Glass” written by one of the band’s original founders, Jim ‘Bone’ Parisella of Danvers. ”Some have been stricken down, with an illness so profound — everything but the mind is paralyzed. Let’s end this suffering. Let’s raise a glass and say a prayer, the answer is out there. Raise glass for a cure to be found.” Parisella, who works at the Cardiology Lab for Beverly Hospital, wrote the lyrics from a very personal perspective as he witnessed firsthand the devastation of the disease and then did something about it.
According to Pete’s dad, John Frates, “We have had several fundraisers, but with the introduction of the “Raise a Glass” song, this one is far beyond Pete – this is for the entire ALS community.” The lyrics are a battle cry for awareness and a cure. “I believe it will become their signature song to be played at every ALS event across our nation to bring people together. It is a true gift to the ALS community and it takes everything that everyone has ever done for Pete to a complete higher level. I’d love it if some big producers would take the time to listen to it. There are folks out there who don’t realize the devastation of ALS. This song is a great platform to change that.”
“Jim Parisella’s ‘Raise a Glass’ song completely inspired this event,” said Rick Mooney, President, Sterling Insurance Agency, Inc. “It gave our agency the opportunity to host a great community event that will give back to the person who has done so much to raise funds for research and awareness for the battle against ALS.”
