If you’re planning on hosting your own at-home reception this Saturday, May 19, in honor of the soon-to-be newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, or even if you’re just planning on watching the Royal Wedding on your couch in your pajamas (because let’s be real, that’s probably what most of us will be doing), then what you’ll need is a cake or any number of tasty sweets to indulge in. Or, maybe you’re newly engaged, and the Royal Wedding has inspired you to start picking out your own wedding cake. Either way, you’re in luck—the North Shore is chock full of bakeries whipping of delectable treats for you to enjoy before, after, and during the “I Do’s.” Here are a few that we’ve rounded up:
Jenny’s Wedding Cakes
From colorful fresh flowers on a buttercream cake to hand-formed sugar flowers on a rolled fondant cake, and from whimsical themed cakes to white cakes, owner Jenny will listen and create your vision based on your own unique style. Jenny’s cake designs are often inspired by art, nature, fashion, and architecture. Every cake has its own distinct style and with her talent and expertise, she will share creative ideas to help make your cake extraordinary.

Mayflour Confections
A custom confectioner specializing in cakes and handcrafted sweets for weddings and events. Owner Jocelyn Pierce turned her passion for baking into a profession after attending the L’Art du Gateau at The French Pastry School in Chicago. Today, her successful bakery celebrates seasonality and each dessert is prepared and enjoyed thoughtfully using local and organic ingredients.
Sandpiper Bakery
Owner Susanne Clermont, who previously owned critically acclaimed Canto 6 in Jamaica Plain has devoted the past two decades to refining the art of baking. Sandpiper specializes in handmade pastries, cakes, tarts, savories, and sweets drawing inspiration from French, English, and American baking using traditional pastry techniques to create menus that showcase the best of every season. And they work closely with local farms, purveyors, and artisans to offer the best selection possible. Their brick and mortar opened last summer in Gloucester.
Honeycomb
Honeycomb is a bakery and café bringing handcrafted pastries, breads, coffees, cakes, and provisions to Hamilton, created by chef Lauren (formerly Kroesser) Moran, a graduate of Boston University’s culinary program who studied under Jacques Pepin. Lauren co-owns Honeycomb with her husband Billy and together they share a combined 38 years of culinary and restaurant experience. As a bonus, the husband-and-wife-duo stock the bakery with honey from all over Massachusetts and New England, as well as chocolates from Fixx in Newburyport, teas from MEM in Watertown, and cheeses from all over including Jasper Hill Creamery in Vermont, Grey Barn on the Vineyard, and Cricket Creek Farm in Williamstown.
Buttermilk Baking Company
A from-scratch, small-batch, made-by-hand bakeshop located in the heart of downtown Newburyport. They do all baking in-house, filling the bakeshop with the sweet aromas of butter and sugar and overflowing the bakery cases with treats illustrating their love of pastry and southern-inspired baking.
Caramel Patisserie
Stepping into Caramel on Salem’s Essex Street is like being transported into the heart of France. Delicate macarons in a variety of flavors and colors, warm cinnamon Pain Aux Raisin, fresh croissants and sweet tarts, and beautiful Royal Au Chocolate fill the French pastry shop with delicious aromas. A neighborhood favorite, the success of Caramel led the owners, brother-sister-duo Sophie and Dimitri Vallier, to open a second location in Somerville.
