For two years running, employees from more than seventy-five New England businesses have gathered at Harvard’s Athletic Complex to go head-to-head at the Corporate Cup: a chance to prove their athletic prowess and more importantly, raise money for Boston Children’s Hospital. Now in its third year, Corporate Cup is expanding: Boston Children’s will run events in Danvers (June 28) and Boston (July 12) to allow even more corporations and their employees to participate in the event’s mission: compete, have fun, do good.

Rich with the nostalgia of childhood field days, each all-day affair will include events like an obstacle course, a tic-tac-toe dash, and of course, tug of war. The event is designed to allow employees of local businesses to network, be a kid for a day, and engage in some healthy competition with cross-town rivals while encouraging fundraising. Last year’s event raised $650,000 for Boston Children’s Hospital and it’s patients. This year, with two Corporate Cup events and over one-hundred companies participating, Boston Children’s hopes to raise $1 million.

“The expansion of Corporate Cup this year is emblematic of our commitment to giving local businesses a platform for joining together in support of a cause close to all our hearts,” says Michael Bornhorst, Associate Vice President, Corporate Development and Special Events of Boston Children’s Hospital. “We are so excited to bring this day of fun, fitness and networking to the North Shore community.”

Corporate Cup Danvers will take place on June 28 at the immaculately kept fields of St. John’s Prep. Twenty-four teams will trade suits for jerseys and compete to win the Kids Cup. Top fundraising teams to date include Zeiss, BANKW Staffing, Oracle, tonneson+co, and Medtronic Woburn. Every dollar raised for the Corporate Cup events goes to the Every Child Fund, helping to provide a healthy future to every child treated at Boston Children’s. Participants are encouraged to raise funds by asking for the support of friends and family.

Corporate Cup Boston, the hallmark event, will follow on July 12, where eighty teams will once again take the field at the Harvard Athletic Complex. Participants include top fundraisers Strategic Benefit Advisors, Lamacchia Realty, and Wells Fargo as well as sponsors like John Hancock and National Grid.
