The Cape Ann Museum will host a three-week drawing workshop on February 2, 9, and 16 with visual artist, former senior lecturer in art and design at Suffolk University, and Gloucester-resident Gabrielle Barzaghi. The workshop will take place on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the museum’s activity center and galleries.
Participants will draw from still life and in the museum galleries and practice basic drawing skills, including visual measuring, line, value, composition, and perspective, while the class structure remains flexible to “allow for each individual’s drawing ability.”
Tickets are $85 for museum members and $100 for non-members, including materials.
The three-week workshop schedule is as follows:
Session One: Will meet in the museum’s activity center. Basic observational drawing techniques will be covered by showing examples, demonstration, and practice.
Session Two: Will involve drawing in the galleries from sculptural forms focusing on structural line, value, and volume.
Session Three: Will include compositional analysis and the study and copying of a masterwork in the museum’s collection.
