What happens when celebrities rally for a good cause at Amesbury’s finish line, for the final stretch of FIREBALL RUN Adventurally’s live action television series? A scene like never before will arrive this weekend on Main Street in Amesbury, when the “Epic Finale” finishes their quest downtown. The 26-episode series finale will film live in Amesbury on Saturday – where you can see the cars and meet the stars! Amesbury Mayor Ken Gray and retired bank President Charlie Cullen of The Provident Bank will participate in this legendary 2,000 mile, life-sized trivia and travel game. They’ll travel to America’s under-discovered places while raising awareness for their campaign, The Race to Recover Missing Children. Forty eight children have been found, over the years, as a result of this campaign effort.
Amesbury’s Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Kassandra Gove expressed sheer joy in bringing national focus to Amesbury with lots of fun, interactive events throughout the day. “A pedestrian village will be created with live music, a beer garden and food trucks, along with a Family Fun Zone. The day wraps up as the adventurally contestants arrive to Main Street at 4pm to enjoy the vintage car display and parade.”
Main Street will be closed to automobiles from 10-6pm Saturday, October 1st, with traffic being detoured around the city. Attendees for the FIREBALL RUN events may park at the high school and be shuttled to Friend Street, or park in the lower deck municipal lot off Elm Street if arriving early. Volunteer spots remain in helping to direct traffic from the highways to various parking locations – simply email the Amesbury Chamber for more details.
“We are taking this to a new level and asking our local attendees to join us and wear our team colors of red and white,” shares Gove. In doing so, there is a rare opportunity for camera crews to capture local faces and share a moment of stardom.
Bring the family – where the young children, teens and townsfolk will be entertained while walking through Amesbury enjoying special treats, stores and memorable moments throughout the weekend. Some stars will be staying locally, and enjoying a local brunch on Sunday. One of the visual treats in this year’s race is a Delorean, which is reminiscent of the time travel machine in “Back to the Future”. This feature car will depart on Monday after helping to kick off ‘Relay for Life Amesbury!’ in the Millyard Monday night. Guests will be able to make a donation to the American Cancer Society while getting a close up look at the car between 5-8pm.
