On Thursday, June 16, at 8 pm, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio—Jamie Laredo, violin, Sharon Robinson, cello, and Joseph Kalichstein, piano—perform in the 35th Rockport Chamber Music Festival. Widely considered one of the seminal trios of the current era, the KLR Trio has set the standard for performance of the piano trio literature, consistently bringing technical mastery, expressive depth, and magnetism to the concert stage. With close to 40 years of exhilarating performances and recordings, the Trio continues to dazzle both audiences and critics alike. The in-demand trio manages to balance the careers of three internationally-acclaimed soloists while making annual appearances at many of the world’s major concert halls, commissioning spectacular new works, and maintaining an active recording agenda. The Trio is also known for its dedication to commissioning and performing new works, having commissioned and debuted pieces by important contemporary composers including Leon Kirchner, David Ludwig, David Ott, Arvo Pärt, and André Previn among many others. Their recording career includes several acclaimed CD’s on the Koch label, and more recently, a brilliant set of Schubert on the Bridge label and an album dedicated to the compositions of Ellen Taaffe Zwilich called Passionate Diversions. All members of the trio are actively engaged in the world of music education. Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson both currently teach at the Cleveland Institute of Music, while Joseph Kalichstein teaches piano at the Juilliard School.

On Saturday, June 18 at 8 pm, pianist Lise de la Salle performs in the Rockport Chamber Music Festival. A young musician of uncommon sensibility and maturity, 26-year-old Lise de la Salle has established a reputation as one of today’s most exciting artists through her international concert appearances. Since winning First Prize at the 2004 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Lise de la Salle has built on an impressive international career performing in the major concert halls of Europe, the United States, and Asia, such as Avery Fisher Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Wigmore Hall in London. She has played with the most prestigious orchestras and their conductors around the world, including Lorin Maazel, Sir Andrew Davis, Semyon Bychokov, and many more. Her many festival appearances include the Ravinia Festival, La Roque d`Anthéron, and Aspen Festival among several others. In 2002, her first CD of Ravel and Rachmaninov with Naive Classique was unanimously acclaimed by critics. Since then, she has released several more recordings, including a Liszt CD which was awarded the Diapason d’Or, ARTE “CD of the month“ and Gramophone’s “Editors Choice.“ At the age of 13 she made her Concerto debut with Beethoven`s Concerto No 2. Most recently, she attended the post graduate cycle at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris.
