There is perhaps no better place to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the North Shore than the Parker River refuge on Plum Island. The 4,700-acre park features diverse habitats from salt marsh to maritime forests that are home to a rich array of wildlife, particularly birds. Visitors can hike the trails, take in the sweeping views from lookout towers, fish and shellfish, or paddle a kayak through some of the hidden corners of the Great Marsh.
