Essex County Club, Manchester
Located in Manchester-by-the-Sea, the Essex County Club was founded back in 1893 with the first nine-hole golf course in New England. Today, the club has a Donald Ross–designed 18-hole golf course, 10 grass tennis courts, 10 clay tennis courts, a full-sized swimming pool, and a historical clubhouse. Ferncroft Country Club, Middleton
Built in 1970, Ferncroft Country Club is home to a challenging 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and a clubhouse with historic touches that’s popular for hosting weddings and other special events. The Middleton club also has a pool, a snack bar, and eight tennis courts—four clay and four hardcourts.
