Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Topsfield
One of Mass Audubon’s largest sanctuaries, Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary stretches over almost 2,000 acres of land shaped by a glacier 15,000 years ago. The 12 miles of trails wind through a varied landscape of woods, marshes, and glacial rocks, and visitors will see birds like herons and hummingbirds. Maudslay State Park, Newburyport
This state park in Newburyport features 16 miles of trails that wind through gorgeous 19th-century gardens and towering pine trees, stretches of meadows, and picturesque bridges over ponds.
