On Wednesday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., over 125 girls from four middle schools in greater Lynn will learn about the wide range of career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at the Girls Inc. of Lynn’s 16th Annual SMART Girls Summit, located at 50 High Street in Lynn. Along with several workshops covering topics such as coding, hydraulics, engineering, chemistry, forensics, environmental health/sustainability, marine science, and astronomy, there will be a special presentation by Curious Creatures illuminating how STEM is involved in working with and caring for animals. Smithsonian Astrophysical/NASA Chandra X-ray observatory, Museum of Science, Boston, Cambridge Science Festival & Science on the Street, Desktop Metal, Inc., New England Biolabs, Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab, Skanska, Change is Simple, Inc., Northeastern University Marine Science Center, Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning and GE Aviation are some of the businesses and organizations who will be represented this year.
