Food Truck Festival New England season launches in Somerville June 7.

Looking for a delicious way to spend a Saturday day? Jump in the car and head to Assembly Row in Somerville June 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. where more than 20 of New England’s most popular food trucks will be at the Somerville Food Truck Festival—including two North Shore favorites, Evan’s New York Style Deli and the Whoo (pie) Wagon. “We want to introduce people to the wonderful world of food trucks that are now serving gourmet and homemade food and run by chefs, not cooks,” says organizer Janet Prenksy.

Mary Bandereck owner Topsfield’s Whoo (pie) Wagon is excited to return for the third year bringing her much coveted gourmet whoo-pies and launching the “Whannoli,” Boston’s answer to the New York “Cronut,” half whoo (pie) and half Cannoli. “Everyone is so happy. There are a lot of foodies who really appreciate the great food and fun,” says Bandereck.

New to the line up this year is Evan’s New York Style Deli of Marblehead that will be featuring six specialty sandwiches along with knishes and a Brooklyn salad. Josh Van Orden of Evan’s NY Style Deli is looking forward to the exposure his new food truck as well as being part of the great time.

The Handmade Arts Market at Assembly Row showcasing New England Etsy artisans will be on hand—as well as a beer tent, specialty food vendors, live music, and children’s activities.  The food fun continues with the Fork in the Road Food Truck Festival at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion next on June 14, and the Worcester Food Truck Festival on June 21. In addition, FTFNE is also producing a variety of monthly and weekly food truck and arts events, all of which can be found in the coming weeks at www.foodtruckfestivalsofne.com.
