Latitude Sports Clubs
The reasons for giving the award to Latitude Sports Clubs year after year are many. Having done our due diligence and taken classes at other top-rated area facilities, it continues to stand that Latitude is the best. Diverse and up-on-what’s-hot class offerings; clean, updated, and always operable equipment; approachable and supportive personal trainers; a sleek spinning studio; a dry sauna; a protein smoothie bar; plenty of hand sanitizer and cleaning solution stations (which make the entire facility feel cleaner than most gyms); and towel service are among the things that we appreciate. The Andover facility is particularly enjoyable with its exposed-brick walls and wood floors, chalked weekly inspirational message, and staff members who call you by name. Oh, and a free trial pass is always a bonus!

Infinity Fitness Center
A bit of a hidden gem, North Andover’s Infinity Fitness Center scores high marks on many counts, including: a spacious workout room and multiple classrooms; very comfortable spinning bikes and studio (and exceptionally great music); equipment that is in good working condition with lots of options and plenty of weights to go around; and a very hot dry sauna with a wood bucket of water for making steam (something not often seen in a gym). The whole facility is very clean and flooded with natural light. Gym wipes stations are everywhere. Massage services and personal and small group training sessions are available, as is a nice little café and juice bar, a small pro shop, and impossibly plush white towels. All in all, it is a sanitary, organized, efficient place in which to get a good workout.

Beverly Athletic Club
BAC, a favorite among readers, has a lot going for it too, beginning with a week free-trial pass (most area gyms only offer a one-day pass). The class schedule is loaded with options for all interests and levels. The general staff is pleasant and the instructors/trainers are upbeat and helpful. The sprawling facility features separate weight and cardio rooms—each very spacious—a large and lively spinning studio, a great selection of high-end nautilus equipment, a quiet dry sauna, and towel service.
