In light of the “Go Strawless” campaign, Boston’s premier dining and hospitality company, Lyons Group, has announced that they will be upgrading all their straws and takeout containers to be eco-friendly starting Sunday, April 22, which is Earth Day.
All beverage and cocktail straws at each of the Lyons Group venues will be exchanged for compostable straws that are 100-percent renewable, carbon neutral and BPI certified, in addition, all of the takeout containers, will be made of biodegradable, Earth-friendly material.
“As a company we are equally committed to our guests and the environment. We have spent tremendous amount of time, effort and energy sourcing products that will satisfy both. While there long have been products, many which we have used, that have been eco-friendly they have all not been guest friendly. Thanks to the efforts of our team members and many of our vendors, we are extremely proud to roll out this program on Earth Day as it is one of the many steps we are taking as an organization to be responsible operators and good neighbors. While, we will always suggest ‘Go Strawless’, we understand many guests would still like to use them and we have found this to be a great option.”
Lyons Group owns and operates over a dozen venues in New England, including: Sonsie, Alibi, Scampo, Loretta’s Last Call, Summer Shack, Game On!, Lansdowne Pub, Lucky’s Lounge, Back Bay Social Club, Bleacher Bar, Harvard Gardens, Osteria Nino, Bill’s Bar, and coming soon, Casa Cana that will be opening in the Studio Allston Hotel on Soldiers Field Road this summer.
Effective April 22, all of the listed venues will be offering eco-conscious and takeout containers.
