Salem State University has named nine additional community leaders to its Board of Overseers, an advisory body that helps to support and advance Salem State as the leading public university in the region.
Those added to the now 67-member Board of Overseers include Massachusetts residents Stanley Cahill of Salem, Gale Colinet of Marblehead, Paul Fuller of Danvers, Michael Goldstein of Marblehead, Andrea Liftman of Salem, Katherine Reid of Arlington, Timothy Siefken of Swampscott, Robert Thibodeau Jr. of Wakefield, and Brian Vinagro of Peabody.
“Salem State’s engaged alumni and friends are essential to our success,” said Patricia Maguire Meservey, President of Salem State University. “We are extremely grateful to those who understand how important our institution is to the region, choosing to use their leadership skills to help open more doors for our students.”
Overseers serve as a university resource by sharing leadership skills and professional expertise, and by encouraging financial support to the university. They act as ambassadors to promote the interests of Salem State regionally, nationally and worldwide.
Biographies of Salem State University’s nine newest Board of Overseers members are below.
Stanley “Stan” P. Cahill, Salem, MA
Retired Executive Vice President of Administration and Risk Management, Salem State University
Stanley Cahill retired in 2014 as the executive vice president of Administration and Risk Management at Salem State University after 28 years of service to the university. He is a trustee of the Plummer Home for Boys and was previously a trustee of the Salem State University Foundation. Additionally, he has also been involved with the Salem Partnership, the Salem YMCA and the Community Leadership Forum of the North Shore Medical Center. Stan earned a BS and MEd from Kent State University and an MA and PhD from Michigan State University.
Gayle M. Colinet, Marblehead, MA
Co-owner, Turtle Cove Bar & Grille
Gayle Colinet is a co-owner of Turtle Cove Bar & Grille in Marblehead, MA. Before opening the restaurant, she owned the Emerald Lion Corp., a marketing firm located in Salem State University’s Enterprise Center. Previously, she worked in radio and film production. Gayle is a member of the Central Committee of Labels Are for Jars, a non-profit organization that supports the Coe Unum Meal Center in Lawrence, MA. Gayle earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications from Simmons College.
Paul R. Fuller ’97, Danvers, MA
President, COO & Co-Founder, Intrinsyk Medical Devices, LLC
Paul Fuller is a 20-year veteran of the medical device design, development and manufacturing industry. In 2013, Paul co-founded Intrinsyk™ Medical Devices, LLC., of Salem, NH. Intrinsyk develops, manufactures and distributes cost-effective medical device solutions for the human and animal blood sampling, drug delivery and diabetes care markets. This past spring, Paul was inducted into the Granite State District Export Council. He takes part in numerous volunteer events and has been active with the Rotary Club. Paul earned a BS in Biology from designations from Salem State University.
Michael Goldstein, MD ’92, Marblehead, MA
Associate Chief of Cardiology, North Shore Medical Center
Michael Goldstein is the associate chief of Cardiology at the North Shore Medical Center. Michael grew up in Russia and served in that country’s military. He finished his pre-med requirements at Salem State University. Michael is the treasurer for both the Essex South District Medical Society and the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore. He earned a BS in Biology from Salem State University and his MD at the University of Vermont’s College of Medicine.
Andrea C. Liftman ’75G, Salem, MA
Retired Educator
Andrea retired from the Swampscott Public Schools in 2005, where she taught second and third grade for 36 years. She also taught second grade Judaic studies at Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead from 2007 to 2013. In 2011 she was honored with Salem State’s Outstanding Educator Award.
She serves as the president of Salem State University’s Friends of the School of Education and was a longtime member of the Alumni Association board. In recognition of her service to the university, Andrea was presented with the Elizabeth Williams Wade Award in 2015. She earned a BA in Elementary Education from Emerson College and a Master’s in Education from Salem State University.
Katherine Reid, Arlington, MA
Associate Director, PV Scientist Development Team Lead, Shire Plc
Katherine is a pharmacovigilance professional in the Lexington, MA office of Shire Plc (NASDAQ: SHPG) which is a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Ireland. In May and August of 2016 she was the recipient of the Shire Excellence Award. Additionally, she has led a Girl Scout troop in Arlington since 2012.
Katherine attended Salem State University. She earned a BS in Biomedical Laboratory and Clinical Science from Boston University and an MPH from the Boston University School of Public Health.
Timothy “Tim” J. Siefken ’13, Swampscott, MA
Senior Sales Manager, Hilton Worldwide
Timothy Siefken is a senior sales manager with Hilton Worldwide, where he specializes in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device markets. During his almost 20-year career in the hospitality industry, he has also held positions with Sonesta Resorts and Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Sanofi Genzyme.
Tim is a decorated combat veteran and was deployed with the Army National Guard in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He is active with Swampscott VFW 1240 and is a coach with Swampscott Youth Soccer. He earned a BS in Business Administration from Salem State University and is currently pursuing his MBA at the university.
Robert F. Thibodeau Jr., ’79, ’14G, Wakefield, MA
Owner, RFT Insurance Agency
Robert Thibodeau is an insurance agent and owns the RFT Insurance Agency, which provides personal insurance and specializes in antique and classic automobile coverage. He serves on the boards of the Sanborn Place, an assisted living community, and a local historical society. Additionally, he has an extensive history as a volunteer at Massachusetts General Hospital and is a lifetime member of the Wakefield Lions Club. He earned an Associate’s degree from North Shore Community College and a BS and an MA from Salem State University.
Brian V. Vinagro ’97, Peabody, MA
Financial Planner, Peabody Wealth Advisors
Brian Vinagro is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ practitioner at Peabody Wealth Advisors located in Danvers. He provides planning experience for his clients by addressing areas as wealth management, risk management, estate planning and tax planning.
A graduate of Salem State University, Brian obtained his BS in Political Science. Brian earned a Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University before earning the CFP® certification. He currently holds FINRA Series 7, 63, 66 registrations as well as being a licensed life, accident and health insurance agent in Massachusetts and several other states. Brian is active in the Peabody Rotary Club and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce.
