Doug Wauchope performing for the kids
Spahawk School’s PreK-2nd grade students welcomed Doug Wauchope to their classroom last week. Doug Wauchope is a professional trombonist and composer who has performed with the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, and other orchestras. Students learned how the trombone is put together, where it fits into the families of musical instruments (the brass), and about the highs and lows of its sound. Then they accompanied Doug playing the song “Little Cabin in the Woods” with hand motions. There is nothing like hands-on learning to get the creative juices flowing, and students are all the more excited for some of the pieces they’ll be performing at Sparhawk’s upcoming winter concert.
