Boston’s Seaport district has a new waterfront gathering spot for the summer: The SunBar pop-up at the Institute of Contemporary Art. Run by The Catered Affair, this outdoor snack and drink bar features menu items like coffee, soft drinks, frozé, beer from Lord Hobo Brewing Co., wine from Archer Roose, cheese and charcuterie, salads, sandwiches, and other small bites.
“The creation of the SunBar pop-up was a natural growth derived from our established partnership with the ICA,” says Ken Barrett-Sweet, Director of Catering and Innovation at The Catered Affair. “We are excited to provide a grab-and-relax picnic experience at this iconic museum.”Whether visiting the museum, grabbing a quick lunch, or stopping for an after-work drink, guests can enjoy a casual atmosphere with open seating on lounge furniture and bar tables, music, and spectacular Boston Harbor views.
“Brightly-colored signage, glasses of frozé, and a striking backdrop will make this a go-to for anyone who wants an Instagram-worthy moment this summer,” says Elizabeth O’Keefe, Marketing and Design Manager at The Catered Affair.
“Summer is a wonderful time to be at the ICA, drawing thousands of visitors every year for our exhibitions, waterfront concerts and DJ nights, and family programs,” said Kelly Gifford, the ICA’s Deputy Director for Public Engagement and Planning. “The SunBar pop-up will enhance the experience at the museum, and we are delighted to partner with the Catered Affair to offer this new amenity to our visitors and neighbors.”
The SunBar will be open through September 2019. Hours of operation are Tuesday and Wednesday 11a.m to 5p.m., Thursday 11a.m. to 9p.m., Friday 11a.m.-3p.m., Saturday and Sunday 11a.m. to 5p.m. Operating dates times are dependent on weather and ICA events.
