The Trustees of Reservations have announced the rollout of the new Go Trustees app, available for free download on your iPhone or Android smartphone. Whether you live in Massachusetts or are just visiting, Go Trustees is the go-to guide for discovering some of Massachusetts’ best places for hiking, biking, nature discovery, picnicking, and family exploring.
With this interactive app, planning and sharing your outdoor adventure has never been easier. Navigate Trustees’ trails with confidence, with interactive smartphone mapping technology to provide real-time guidance and different trail loop options. Share your experience with family and friends as you easily upload photos to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Click the Event tab to discover a variety of events for all ages happening at Trustees’ sites such as kayak and canoe trips, culinary classes, holiday and vacation programs and more.
“A downside of our increasingly digitized lives is that we are spending less time outside,” says Barbara Erickson, Trustees President and CEO. “This app provides an opportunity for technology to help reverse that trend. With Go Trustees, we hope to inspire more Massachusetts residents of all ages to get out, be active, and enjoy our many wonderful sites together.”
Go Trustees currently features 20 scenic Trustees properties around the state that have an established trail network. The app will be updated regularly until all Trustees reservations with a mapped trail network are included. Properties can be easily found with the GPS-powered map or zip code search and integrated driving directions. Individual property pages list special features, flora, and fauna that can be found there, in addition to current weather conditions. The app also works in offline mode, with most features, including trail maps, available even when you don’t have cell reception or wi-fi.
Go Trustees is made possible by generous funding from the Claneil Foundation and REI as well as expertise from project partner, the Natural Lands Trustbased in Pennsylvania.
