As part of the 35th Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival, the Boat Parade of Lights was held this past Saturday, September 1, 2018. The parade mustered at Jones Creek and made its way down the Annisquam River and into Gloucester Harbor, around the docked schooners as hundreds of people on shore watched the boats and waitied for the fireworks.
This year only a few boats took part in the festivities, but those that did went all out for sharks, with a full shark float eating a surfer and another boat being followed by a giant shark fin. Also of note was a boat covered in green Irish colors and another with a go-go Hulu-hoop dancer going nonstop throughout the evening on her boat’s bow.
Special thanks to the Harbormaster for making this coverage possible.
