The appliance industry changes rapidly, with constant updates, improvements, and innovations to make the consumer’s life simpler. Despite the fast-paced nature of the business, Woburn’s Boston Appliance has topped its game for years, bringing cutting-edge products and new technologies to the greater Boston area since 1950. President Christian
Jason and the showroom’s knowledgeable staff know exactly how to help cooking pros and technology buffs bring their kitchens to the next level.
Appliances that streamline the cooking experience are more advanced than ever. “Wall ovens especially have advanced very quickly this year,” Jason explains. “We have new WiFi-enabled ovens with iPad and tablet interfaces. The tablet can be used as a control panel for the oven—being able to read your recipes and control your oven from one device really streamlines meal prep.” Jason recommends the Dacor Discovery IQ Wall Oven for those interested in connecting their oven with to WiFi-operated devices.
Convection steam ovens by Subzero-Wolf also top the list, offering chefs a choice between convection only, steam only, or a combination of the two. The oven promises faster results and even allows food to retain natural vitamins that may be lost during other cooking methods. Microwave drawer ovens offer an updated twist on the traditional countertop appliance; Sharp offers several models in a variety of sizes to fit underneath any countertop or kitchen island. More spacious than a traditional microwave, these drawer ovens can hold a four-quart casserole or a 20-ounce beverage. Bosch models are opened and closed with a simple touch and promise easy installation.
Refrigerators haven’t been left behind in the race to upgrade—advances include better air filtration systems, built-in wine storage, and even wine-dispensing units. Sub-Zero and Wolf recently introduced a new line of wine storage units that can be installed separate from the refrigerator—these units are state-of-the-art, designed to preserve the quality of wines and store bottles of all sizes. “The wine storage units from Sub-Zero and Wolf are phenomenal,” says Jason. “They’ll absolutely become a staple in your kitchen—I can see everyone having these in the future.” They can even be connected to a home’s security system and alert the homeowner of a power outage.
For customers looking to design a new kitchen or improve an older one, Jason recommends springing for quality: “If there’s no budgetary concern, there are so many things you can do—steam ovens, built-in cappuccino machines, wine storage. But if you are setting a budget, I recommend investing in Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. They’re really the leader of the pack when it comes to high-end appliance manufacturers.” Boston Appliance stocks a wide range of Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, as well as hundreds of others from high-quality brands like Maytag, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire. Jason adds, “I expect there to be even more new advances in the industry in the fourth quarter this year—appliance companies are always looking to change and improve.”
