“Roughing it” has never been so easy or glamourous, thanks to Sandy Pines Campground. The seaside glamping and camping destination in Kennebunkport, Maine opens May 10 for its third season with a host of brand new offerings.
This year, Sandy Pines has expanded its glamping options with its “Unique Retreats” collection of six new glamping structures set along the waterfront and custom designed and outfitted by Kennebunkport interior designer Krista Stokes. All of them feature king- or queen-sized beds, heat and air conditioning, and indoor and outdoor seating areas.
Among them is Zephyr, an Airstream with mid-century design elements; Stargazer, a 13-foot floor-to-ceiling glass dome; and Wild Blue Yonder, which consists of two reimagined Conestoga covered wagons with prairie-inspired rustic décor.
Sandy Pines’ new family camp cottages (complete with beds and mini-fridges) also add more family options in addition to its family glampsafari-style tents, both of which can accommodate families of up to four.
For couples and solo travelers, Sandy Pines offers a glamping experience to suit every lifestyle, including safari-style glamp tents, cozy A-frame “hideaway huts,” and stylish camp cottages. There are also traditional camp sites for tent, camper, RV, and seasonal campers.
“We are excited to offer new glamping experiences this season,” said Sandy Pines founder Debra Lennon. “We have enjoyed providing a range of camping opportunities and can’t wait to welcome guests to our creative new accommodations along with resort-level amenities and festive events that we hope will make for very memorable vacations.”
There’s plenty to see and do during a stay at Sandy Pines, from a kid’s crafting tent to the nearby white-sanded Goose Rocks Beach, but the campground also offers fun, themed programming during certain weekends throughout the summer.
Among them is the July 4th kids bike parade, Sandy Pines Carnival and Animal Farm on July 20, and National S’mores Weekend on August 9 – 11, complete with gourmet s’mores and a s’mores recipe contest. Sandy Pines also presents Vintage Camping Weekend, which coincides with Father’s Day and will feature restored, DIY, and unique campers, live music, and BBQ.
