A panel of professionals will provide an overview of various aspects of how art can affect design considerations at various scales and conditions. From large installations and building forms, to personal spaces, the paths that lead to inspiring and creative solutions will be explored. Issues of form, balance, light, color, shape and placement will be considered as it affects the built environment. Participants are encouraged to bring examples of their own design conditions for discussion.

D. Bruce Greenwald of D.Bruce Greenwald, Architects is an architect, preservationist, and sculptor. He has over 30 years of experience in the evaluation, design and administration of housing, historic preservation, commercial, retail, corporate and broadcasting projects. He is currently the principal and director of design for D. Bruce Greenwald, Architects. His architectural designs include housing, historic preservation, commercial, broadcasting and theatre projects. He has been a creative consultant for area theaters since 2003 and has been a set designer with the Mugford Street Players and the Salem Theatre Company. Greenwald was a teacher and design critic at the Boston Architectural Center for 10 years. Community work has included 10 years of service on the Historic District Commission in Marblehead. In 1981, in addition to completing his Master in Architecture degree, Greenwald received the Julia Amory Appleton award from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. As a sculptor, he has created works in wood, brass, bronze, silver and stone. He designed and installed the “Sun Circle,” an astronomical stone sculpture, at Beach Bluff Park on the Marblehead/Swampscott border.
Pan Manadee is the owner and principal of Bliss Home, an awarding-winning design store that she founded in 1997. Bliss Home honors include seven ‘Best of Boston’ awards from Boston Magazine and two awards for ‘Best Home Store’ from Yankee Magazine. Bliss Home has been featured in Elle Decor, Town & Country, USA Today, Instyle Home, and Fodors. In 2010, after several years on Newbury Street, Pan launched the interior design aspect of Bliss Home. Pan notes, “Our clients have tastes ranging from classic to contemporary. Our signature interior design style is not married to a particular period, rather, we are known for our streamlined, yet luxurious interpretations.”
Interior designer Eugenie Roy is Principal of the firm, Room with a Muse. Her designs are inspired by her clients, the “muses” of her work. She has been creating unique living and working spaces for people for over 30 years. Eugenie works with homeowners, renters, businesses and realtors. On many projects she joins forces with architects, builders, fine craftsmen, and trades people. Her areas of interior design expertise include residential, corporate/ commercial, restaurant/retail and relocation staging.
Eugenie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Design from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and began her career in the mid 1980s as a Landscape Designer. Her blend of artistic talent and design capabilities led to an exclusive invitation by a well-established interior design firm in Boston, where she honed her skills as an interior designer. From there, she further broadened her expertise in the corporate realm at the Bank of Boston as Senior Designer and Project Manager for the bank’s Facilities Planning division. Eugenie relocated to the San Francisco Bay area in the late 1990s. During this time, she continued working in the interior design field as an independent freelance designer. She returned to the Boston area in 2001, designing many spaces for a variety of clients and establishing her business, Room with a Muse, in 2006. Eugenie makes her home on the North Shore of Boston.
